Robert and Sloane Cheatham, the husband and wife team behind the über-creative and eco-conscious Freedonia Garden Works, are holding a pot sale and party this Saturday and Sunday, July 17-18 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at their studio in Grant Park. Robert and Sloane are friends of mine from our days as board members, contributing artists and instigators at Eyedrum in downtown Atlanta.
These days, the duo create beautiful, whimsical, one-of-a-kind fantasy or "artist's gardens", custom wood arbors, garden mosaics and hand-crafted pots incorporating reclaimed materials. Robert and Sloane also do on-site garden consultations. Robert, handy man that he is, has created a series of sculptural pots he entitled, "The Tectonic Series" because of their resemblance to natural earth activity. They look massively hewn, but there's also a sense that the elements could easily have their way with them.
Unfortunately, I will be out of town this weekend and will miss their "pot party", but hope you'll be intrigued enough to pay Robert and Sloane a visit. Please tell them I sent you!
